Description

Creamy avocado sauce for fish is a healthy, vibrant topping perfect for grilled, baked, or fried fish. Packed with ripe avocados, lime juice, garlic, and herbs, it’s a delicious way to elevate weeknight dinners, fish tacos, and more.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
    Optional Add-ins:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 small jalapeño (for spice)
  • Lemon zest, honey, or hot sauce (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Halve and pit the avocados; scoop the flesh into a blender or food processor.
  2. Add Greek yogurt, lime juice, garlic, cilantro, salt, and pepper.
  3. Blend until smooth, scraping down sides as needed.
  4. Adjust seasoning with more lime juice or salt if desired.
  5. Optionally, drizzle in olive oil while blending for extra richness.
  6. Serve immediately or store properly to retain freshness.

Notes

  • Use plant-based yogurt for dairy-free or vegan options.
  • For extra zest, try lemon juice or citrus zest.
  • Prevent browning by pressing plastic wrap directly on the sauce surface before refrigerating.
  • Best when used fresh, but can be stored for 2–3 days in the fridge.
  • Not ideal for freezing due to texture changes.
