Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¾ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • Optional: lemon zest, vanilla extract, or cinnamon
  • Optional streusel topping: brown sugar, butter, cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rise in a greased bowl for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  4. Gently fold in blueberries. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.
  5. Slash top for signature texture. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Cool before slicing. Toast for optimal flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh blueberries when in season.
  • To prevent blueberries from sinking, toss in a little flour before adding.
  • Toast slices to enhance flavor and texture.
  • Gluten-free flour and plant-based milk can be substituted.
