Description

These Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies take a classic treat to the next level with rich, nutty brown butter. Soft, chewy, and packed with indulgent flavor, they are perfect for any occasion. Whether you love classic chocolate chips, gourmet add-ins, or a gluten-free twist, this recipe is endlessly customizable!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Brown the Butter: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  5. Chill the Dough: Scoop dough into balls and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden brown but centers remain soft.
  7. Cool & Enjoy: Let cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, sprinkle sea salt on top before baking.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
