Description
Chicken Alfredo garlic bread bowls are a hearty combination of creamy chicken Alfredo pasta served in toasted garlic bread bowls, offering a fun and indulgent twist on classic comfort food. Perfect for family dinners, parties, or as a homemade treat. Easily made gluten-free, low-carb, or vegan.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
– 3 chicken breasts, cubed
– 3–4 teaspoons garlic and herb seasoning, divided
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Pasta:
– 1 pound pasta, uncooked
– 1 jar Alfredo sauce (about 15 oz)
For the Garlic Bread Bowls:
– 6 Kaiser rolls, tops sliced and centers hollowed
– ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (substitute plant-based butter for vegan diets)
– ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Optional Garnishes:
– Chopped parsley
– Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Season cubed chicken with garlic and herb seasoning, salt, and pepper. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned. Remove and set aside.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and return to the pot.
- Slice the tops off Kaiser rolls and hollow out the centers gently, leaving sturdy walls. Combine melted butter with 1–2 teaspoons garlic and herb seasoning. Brush the inside and edges of each bread bowl generously with the garlic-butter mixture.
- Place the brushed bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 4–5 minutes until lightly toasted and golden.
- Add drained pasta, Alfredo sauce, and cooked chicken to the skillet or pot. Stir to combine well so the sauce evenly coats the pasta and chicken. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Spoon the chicken Alfredo mixture into the toasted bread bowls, filling them generously. Sprinkle each bowl with shredded Parmesan cheese.
- Return to the oven for 4–5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread edges are crisp. Serve hot with optional garnishes like chopped parsley or red pepper flakes for color and heat.
Notes
– Use fresh garlic and herbs: Fresh ingredients provide maximum aroma and flavor. Substitute dried spices if needed, but use half the amount.
– Prevent sogginess: Toast the bread bowls thoroughly before adding the filling to create a moisture barrier.
– Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze portions for longer storage; thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat gently in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes. Avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
– Customizations: Swap chicken with shrimp, sausage, or plant-based alternatives. Add spinach, mushrooms, or roasted red peppers for variety.
