Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts

Optional Add-ins:

  • Pecans
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat softened butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture by hand to avoid overmixing.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are golden but centers appear slightly underbaked.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature butter for best creaming results.
  • Avoid overmixing to keep cookies soft and chewy.
  • Toast walnuts before adding for extra flavor.
