  • Author: Leslie Bennett
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

Crab rangoon pizza is a creative fusion of crab rangoon flavors (crab, cream cheese, and green onions) on a crispy pizza crust, topped with a tangy sweet and sour drizzle. Perfect for appetizers, game nights, or as a homemade treat. Easily made gluten-free, low-carb, or vegan.

Ingredients

For the Pizza:

– 8 oz flake-style crab (substitute canned crab if needed; drain and pat dry thoroughly)

– 12 oz cream cheese, divided (substitute plant-based cream cheese for vegan diets)

– 1 garlic clove

– 3 green onions, thinly sliced, divided

– 1½ tsp sesame oil

– 1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce (substitute soy sauce for gluten-free diets)

– 1 pre-made pizza dough (substitute gluten-free or cauliflower crust if needed)

For Toppings:

– 6 wonton wrappers, sliced into strips and fried crisp (substitute crispy chow mein noodles or crushed crackers)

For the Sweet and Sour Sauce:

– ¾ cup white sugar

– ⅓ cup white vinegar

– ⅔ cup water

– ¼ cup soy sauce (substitute gluten-free soy sauce if needed)

– 1 tbsp ketchup

– 2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out pizza dough and stretch onto a pizza stone or large baking sheet.
  2. In a small food processor, blend half the crab (4 oz), half the cream cheese (4 oz), garlic clove, 1 green onion, sesame oil, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
  3. Spread the crab mixture in small spoonfuls over the pizza crust. Add the remaining cream cheese (8 oz) and top with the remaining crab meat.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, water, soy sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat until boiling and thickened.
  5. Spoon ⅓ of the sweet and sour sauce over the pizza in small dollops.
  6. Bake for 8–10 minutes until the crust is golden and the toppings are heated through.
  7. Drizzle additional sweet and sour sauce over the baked pizza, garnish with remaining green onions, and top with crispy wonton strips before serving.

Notes

– Use fresh ingredients: Fresh crab ensures maximum flavor and texture. Substitute plant-based alternatives for vegan diets.

– Prevent sogginess: Pre-bake the crust for 3–5 minutes before adding toppings to ensure crispiness. Store pizza and sauce separately if not serving immediately.

– Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–10 minutes to restore crispiness. Avoid microwaving if possible.
