This Easy Homemade Stromboli recipe is the perfect blend of Italian meats, cheeses, and veggies wrapped in golden pizza dough. Ready in 30 minutes, it’s a versatile, crowd-pleasing dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Pizza Dough and Base

  • Pizza dough: 1 lb (enough for 1 stromboli)
  • Marinara sauce: 1/2 cup

Cheeses

  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded: 1 1/2 cups
  • Optional: Provolone cheese

Meats and Fillings

  • Sliced meats (pepperoni, Genoa salami, Virginia ham): 1/2 lb
  • Optional: banana pepper rings, sautéed vegetables, pineapple, barbecue chicken

Toppings

  • Egg wash: 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly, leaving a 1-inch border.
  4. Add shredded mozzarella and your choice of sliced meats. Include any optional fillings you like.
  5. Roll the dough tightly from the long side, pinching the seam to seal.
  6. Place the stromboli seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Brush the top with egg wash and make shallow cuts on top to allow steam to escape.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  9. Let the stromboli rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  10. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Dough can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for 3 days or frozen for 3 months.
  • Experiment with fillings like Philly cheesesteak, Hawaiian-style, or spinach and feta.
