Description

Four-cheese pizza is a rich, indulgent dish featuring mozzarella, parmesan, gorgonzola, and ricotta for a creamy, tangy, and savory experience. Perfect for family dinners, casual gatherings, or as a homemade treat. Easily made gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan.

Ingredients

For the Pizza:

– 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade; substitute gluten-free dough if needed)

– 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, shredded (substitute plant-based cheese for vegan option)

– ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

– ¼ cup crumbled gorgonzola cheese (substitute blue cheese or feta if preferred)

– ½ cup ricotta cheese (substitute plant-based ricotta for vegan option)

– 2 tbsp olive oil

– ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

– Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Add-ins:

– Red pepper flakes, garlic powder, or oregano (for added depth)

– Caramelized onions, roasted garlic, or arugula (for complexity)

– Toasted pine nuts or balsamic glaze (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure a crispy crust.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches wide and transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Spread your favorite pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving space at the edges.
  4. Layer mozzarella first, followed by dollops of ricotta, crumbles of gorgonzola, and a sprinkle of parmesan.
  5. Lightly season with salt and pepper and drizzle olive oil on top for added flavor.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Sprinkle fresh basil on top right after removing from the oven. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

– Use fresh, high-quality cheeses: They melt better and offer superior flavor compared to pre-shredded alternatives.

– Prevent sogginess: Pre-bake the crust for 3–5 minutes before adding toppings if needed. Use a pizza stone or steel for an extra crispy base.

– Storage: Store leftover pizza in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Freeze slices for longer storage; reheat in the oven at 375°F for 5–10 minutes to restore crispiness. Avoid microwaving if possible.

– Customizations: Add red pepper flakes, garlic powder, or oregano for depth. Swap some cheeses with feta, goat cheese, or fontina for variety.
