Ingredients

For the Filling:

– 1 lb (454g) pork mince (or ground beef/chicken)

– 1 packet (about 1 oz) French onion soup mix (or homemade blend: 2 tbsp dried onion flakes + 1 tsp onion powder + ½ tsp garlic powder + salt)

– 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

– 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

– 1 tsp Dijon mustard

– Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

For the Pastry & Finish:

– 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed if frozen; use gluten-free if needed)

– 1 large egg

– 1 tbsp milk

Optional Add-Ins:

– ½ cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella

– 1 tsp fresh thyme, rosemary, or parsley

– Pinch of chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine pork mince, French onion soup mix, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and black pepper. Mix until evenly blended.
  3. Roll out puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise to make 4 long rectangles.
  4. Place a log of filling along one long edge of each pastry strip.
  5. Roll pastry over filling, sealing the seam with a dab of water or egg wash.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk egg and milk to make an egg wash.
  7. Place rolls seam-side down on the baking tray. Brush tops generously with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Let rest 3–5 minutes before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
  10. Serve warm with dipping sauces or as part of a charcuterie board.
