Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches

Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches

  • Author: Leslie Bennett
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 sandwiches

Description

Fried strawberry cheesecake sandwiches are a rich and indulgent treat featuring creamy cheesecake filling, fresh strawberries, and strawberry jam sandwiched between slices of brioche or challah bread, then fried to golden perfection. Perfect for dessert nights, brunches, or as a homemade treat. Easily made gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan.

Ingredients

For the Sandwiches:

– 8 slices brioche or challah bread (substitute gluten-free bread if needed)

– 4 oz cream cheese, softened (substitute plant-based cream cheese for vegan diets)

– 2 tbsp powdered sugar (plus more for dusting, substitute sugar-free alternative if desired)

– ½ cup fresh strawberries, sliced

– ¼ cup strawberry jam (substitute raspberry, apricot, or Nutella for variety)

For Coating:

– 2 large eggs

– 3 tbsp milk (substitute plant-based milk for vegan diets)

For Frying:

– 2 tbsp butter (substitute plant-based butter for vegan diets)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2. Spread the mixture onto one side of four bread slices. Add sliced strawberries and a spoonful of strawberry jam on top of the cream cheese layer. Cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.
  3. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk. Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining butter and sandwiches.
  5. Remove from the skillet and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

– Use high-quality cream cheese: This ensures maximum flavor and creaminess. Substitute plant-based ingredients for vegan diets.

– Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat gently in a skillet or oven. Avoid microwaving if possible.

– Customizations: Swap strawberry jam with raspberry, apricot, or Nutella for variety. Add chopped nuts, sprinkles, or edible glitter for added complexity.
