Description

Mint Oreo truffles are no-bake, bite-sized treats made with mint creme Oreos and cream cheese, rolled into balls and dipped in rich chocolate, perfect for holiday gifting, parties, or indulgent snacking. Easily made gluten-free or vegan.

Ingredients

For the Truffle Center:

– 1 (14.3 oz / 405g) package Mint Creme Oreos

– 8 oz (226g) full-fat brick cream cheese, softened

For Coating & Flavor:

– 12 oz (340g) high-quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped

– ½ tsp peppermint extract (optional)

Optional Toppings:

– Crushed Oreos

– White chocolate drizzle

– Crushed candy canes

– Cocoa powder or powdered sugar

– Festive sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Place entire package of Mint Oreos in a food processor. Pulse until fine crumbs form.
  2. In a large bowl, combine Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese.
  3. Mix with a hand mixer or sturdy spatula until a thick, fudgy dough forms.
  4. (Optional) Stir in peppermint extract for extra minty flavor.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Scoop dough by tablespoon and roll into smooth 1-inch balls.
  7. Chill balls in the refrigerator for 30 minutes (or freezer for 15 minutes) until firm.
  8. Melt chocolate in a microwave (30-second bursts, stirring between) or over a double boiler until smooth.
  9. Dip each chilled truffle into melted chocolate, coating fully.
  10. Tap gently to remove excess and place back on parchment paper.
  11. Immediately add toppings before chocolate sets.
  12. Let truffles set at room temperature or chill 10–15 minutes to firm.
  13. (Optional) Drizzle with melted white chocolate, or top with sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.
  14. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

– Use block cream cheese only, whipped cream cheese is too soft and watery.

– Chill thoroughly before dipping this prevents melting and ensures smooth coating.

– Gluten-free: Use certified gluten-free mint sandwich cookies (e.g., Kinnikinnick or Glutino).

– Vegan option: Use plant-based cream cheese and dairy-free chocolate.

– Chocolate too thick? Add ½ tsp coconut oil to thin it slightly.

– Storage: Keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks or freeze for 3 months.
