Description

Rich, creamy Oreo truffles coated in smooth white chocolate for a decadent and irresistible dessert. Perfect for parties, holidays, or gifting, this easy recipe is customizable and caters to various dietary preferences, including gluten-free and vegan options.

Ingredients

– For the Base:

– 14.3 ounces chocolate sandwich cookies (about 36 cookies)

– 8 ounces softened cream cheese

– For the Coating:

– 16 ounces white chocolate melting wafers or candy coating

– Optional Toppings:

– Crushed cookies or sprinkles

– Dietary Substitutions (Optional):

– Use dairy-free cream cheese and white chocolate for a vegan version.

– Substitute gluten-free cookies for a gluten-free option.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Crumbs: Crush the cookies in a food processor until very fine crumbs form. Reserve a tablespoon of crumbs for topping if desired.
  2. Make the Dough: Add softened cream cheese to the crumbs and pulse or mix until a uniform, thick dough forms with no dry spots.
  3. Form the Truffles: Scoop about 1 tablespoon of mixture per truffle and roll into smooth balls. Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet and freeze until firm, about 15–20 minutes.
  4. Melt the Coating: Place white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and melt in 20–30 second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and silky. Avoid overheating.
  5. Coat the Truffles: Dip chilled truffles into the melted coating using a fork, letting excess drip back into the bowl. Place them back on the parchment and sprinkle with reserved crumbs or sprinkles before the coating sets.
  6. Chill and Serve: Chill until the shells are fully set, about 10–15 minutes. Serve cold or slightly chilled.

Notes

– Chill the truffle mixture briefly if it feels too soft to roll.

– Keep truffles cold and chocolate warm for smoother dipping.

– Use high-quality white chocolate or candy coating for a professional finish.
