Description

This Roasted Garlic & Sage Turkey is incredibly succulent, with tender meat bursting with rich, herby flavors. The combination of roasted garlic and fresh sage creates a deliciously savory profile, making it a perfect holiday centerpiece for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any festive gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 head of garlic, roasted
  • 1/4 cup fresh sage leaves, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a bowl, mix softened butter, roasted garlic, sage, salt, pepper, rosemary, and thyme until well combined.
  3. Prepare the Turkey: Pat the turkey dry. Loosen the skin over the breast and thighs, then spread the garlic butter mixture under the skin and over the turkey.
  4. Stuff the Turkey: Fill the turkey cavity with onion, carrots, and celery for extra flavor.
  5. Roast the Turkey: Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a pan. Pour chicken broth into the pan and cover loosely with foil.
  6. Baste & Cook: Roast, basting every 30 minutes. Remove foil for the last hour to crisp the skin. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  7. Rest & Serve: Let the turkey rest 20-30 minutes before carving. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Notes

  • Roasting times may vary depending on oven and turkey size.
  • For an extra crispy skin, brush with melted butter in the last 30 minutes.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or cranberry sauce for a complete feast!
