Description

A juicy, tender slow cooker turkey breast infused with aromatic herbs and spices, served with rich homemade gravy. Perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or easy meal prep. Moist, flavorful, and adaptable for gluten-free, low-sodium, paleo, or keto diets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole bone-in turkey breast with skin (57 lb)
  • 1 large onion, quartered
  • ¾ cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1½ tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tbsp dried sage
    For the gravy:
  • Liquid from slow cooker
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the quartered onion in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Position the turkey breast on top, breast side down.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and add bay leaves.
  4. Evenly sprinkle salt, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage over the turkey.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours, until the turkey reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Remove turkey carefully; tent loosely with foil while making gravy.
  7. Strain the slow cooker liquid into a saucepan, let it settle, and skim excess fat.
  8. Simmer the liquid for 8 minutes, stirring often.
  9. Mix cornstarch with cold water, add to the saucepan, and simmer 2 minutes until thickened.
  10. Season gravy with salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Remove turkey skin, carve into slices, and serve with warm gravy.

Notes

  • For low-sodium: replace broth with water or unsalted vegetable broth.
  • For extra flavor: add smoked paprika, cayenne, or fresh herbs.
  • Add veggies like carrots, celery, or potatoes for a complete one-pot meal.
  • Boneless turkey breast cooks 1–2 hours faster.
  • Ensure seasonings are certified gluten-free if needed.
