- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Additional:
- 1 3/4 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix self-rising flour, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Stir in milk and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine dark brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter.
- Slowly pour hot water over the batter without stirring.
- Bake for 30–45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Use unsalted butter for the best results.
- For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.
- Storage: Keep leftovers at room temperature for 1–2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
