Description

Stuffed potato pancakes are a delicious fusion dish combining crispy golden latkes with a savory filling of seasoned ground beef and melted cheese. Perfect for family dinners, holiday meals, or as an appetizer, these pancakes offer a satisfying crunch, juicy filling, and gooey cheese in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium potatoes, grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons flour (or gluten-free flour for substitution)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: paprika, cumin, parsley, or dill for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Prepare the potato mixture: Grate the potatoes and squeeze out excess moisture using a clean kitchen towel. Mix with egg, flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook the beef filling: Sauté ground beef, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a skillet until fully cooked. Set aside.
  3. Assemble the pancakes: Place a spoonful of the potato mixture in your hand, add a portion of beef filling and shredded cheese, then enclose it with more potato mixture to form a patty.
  4. Fry the patties: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Finish with cheese: Sprinkle additional cheese on top of each pancake and let it melt slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Thoroughly squeeze excess moisture from grated potatoes to ensure crispiness.
  • Incorporate spices like paprika, cumin, or fresh herbs for enhanced flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes to restore crispiness.
