- 1 large round sourdough or artisan bread loaf
- 8 oz lump crab meat
- ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Optional: diced bell peppers, onions, or jalapeños
- Optional: fresh parsley, chives, or dill for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
- Cut a circular lid off the top of the bread loaf and hollow out the center. Set bread pieces aside.
- In a skillet, sauté garlic in olive oil over medium heat until fragrant. Add shrimp and cook until pink.
- In a mixing bowl, combine cooked shrimp, crab meat, cream cheese, cheddar, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice.
- Stuff the mixture into the hollowed bread bowl. Sprinkle extra cheese on top if desired.
- Place on the baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Toast the bread lid and reserved pieces alongside the bowl, if desired.
- Garnish and serve warm with bread pieces or crackers for dipping.
Notes
- Substitute imitation crab or other seafood like scallops or cod if preferred.
- For added spice, mix in diced jalapeños or hot sauce.
- To make gluten-free, use certified gluten-free bread and ingredients.
