This show-stopping stuffed seafood bread bowl is filled with a creamy mix of shrimp, lump crab meat, cheeses, and savory seasoning, all baked to perfection in a crusty artisan loaf. Perfect as an appetizer or main course, it’s comforting, customizable, and guaranteed to impress.


Ingredients

  • 1 large round sourdough or artisan bread loaf
  • 8 oz lump crab meat
  • ½ lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: diced bell peppers, onions, or jalapeños
  • Optional: fresh parsley, chives, or dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking sheet.
  2. Cut a circular lid off the top of the bread loaf and hollow out the center. Set bread pieces aside.
  3. In a skillet, sauté garlic in olive oil over medium heat until fragrant. Add shrimp and cook until pink.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked shrimp, crab meat, cream cheese, cheddar, Old Bay seasoning, and lemon juice.
  5. Stuff the mixture into the hollowed bread bowl. Sprinkle extra cheese on top if desired.
  6. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Toast the bread lid and reserved pieces alongside the bowl, if desired.
  8. Garnish and serve warm with bread pieces or crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • Substitute imitation crab or other seafood like scallops or cod if preferred.
  • For added spice, mix in diced jalapeños or hot sauce.
  • To make gluten-free, use certified gluten-free bread and ingredients.
