Recreate the iconic Texas Roadhouse green beans at home! This easy recipe delivers tender, garlic-infused green beans with smoky bacon and aromatic seasonings. Perfect for family dinners or as a versatile side dish that pairs well with any meal.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Fresh Green Beans: 1 lb (trimmed and cleaned)
  • Bacon: 6 slices (diced)
  • Yellow Onion: 1 medium (diced)
  • Garlic: 3 cloves (minced)
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Black Pepper: 1/2 tsp

Granulated Sugar: 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Rinse the green beans under cool water and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. Trim the ends and cut the beans into 1-inch pieces.
  3. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 5–7 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain again and pat dry.
  5. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving the rendered fat in the skillet.
  6. Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  7. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
  8. Return the green beans to the skillet and stir well. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the beans are heated through.
  9. Season with salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine.

Top with the crispy bacon and serve hot. Optionally garnish with fresh parsley for added flavor.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute bacon with sautéed mushrooms or tofu.
  • To reduce sodium, use low-sodium bacon or omit additional salt.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a squeeze of lemon juice or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese before serving.
