Ingredients
- Jalapeño Cheddar: 2 cups, shredded (choose high-quality cheddar for the best melt and taste)
- Jalapeños: 3-4, sliced (adjust slices for desired spice level)
- Bread: 2 slices, thick-cut (artisanal sourdough or ciabatta recommended)
- Butter: 2 tablespoons (unsalted for the best flavor balance)
Instructions
- Preheat your skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each bread slice generously.
- Spread shredded jalapeño cheddar evenly on the unbuttered side of one slice of bread.
- Layer sliced jalapeños over the cheese.
- Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side out.
- Place the sandwich on the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, flipping carefully until the bread is golden-brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, let rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a milder flavor, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños.
- Experiment with cheese combinations like Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for more variety.
Serve with sides like creamy tomato soup, crispy fries, or tangy coleslaw for a complete meal
